To find out how old your cigarettes are, look for the production date instead of the expiration date. From there, it will be easier to determine if your cigarette is about to expire, or if they are still fresh. However, they do get incredibly stale over time, especially when the pack is exposed to air. According to this Quora user , an opened pack of commercial cigarettes has around two days before they start going stale. Right after production, cigarettes and tobacco contain oils and resins that give it moisture and freshness.
Oxygen exposure forces out that moisture, which in turn makes the cigarettes expire, or go stale. This is why stale cigarettes usually burn out faster than new ones. The easiest and riskiest way to identify a stale cigarette is to try it. Old cigarettes are often dotted with dark brown or yellow spots, which comes from moisture and oils leaching out of the tobacco. At the very least, you may experience unpleasant symptoms like vomiting, nausea, and coughing.
Symptoms include sinus drainage and pain, mild to severe congestion, and wheezing. Share on email Email This.

I mean, if you gotta get dirty, you might as well get filthy, right? I heard they scrape the stuff for Basics off of the factory floor. I lit up a cig from a pack opened 3 or 4 months prior "oh look, I found cig's in my coat" moment.
It was harsh and the flavor wasn't exactly what I was expecting, wholly not enjoyable to understate it. I put it out after a couple of puffs and tossed the pack. Custom photoshopping just for the anti-smoking militants. They sure do. I had a pack that I found in my dresser drawer that were just not nice. If you don't smoke, don't start just out of curiosity. If you do try one, listen to your bodies reaction to inhaling toxic gases and don't have another one just to see if it gets better.
It's possible, but usually very difficult to quit. Fsck that.
