Cougar Town fans waited patiently for lesser new comedies like Man Up and Work It to inevitably fizzle out, leaving a vacancy in ABC's overly packed schedule. Now that the show has finally been granted a return, the plucky sitcom about a group of fortysomething friends chugging wine and making up goofy games has another hurdle to jump: They are set to premiere on Valentine's Day, a night when couples everywhere will be out celebrating their own personal romance.
But if you didn't manage to snag reservations or you're flying solo, tonight is as good a time as any to return to Gulf Haven, Florida—or visit for the first time. Settling in with Cougar Town 's cul-de-sac crew for this new season is like meeting up with a group of friends you haven't seen in a long time since May 25, to be exact.
Catching up with the gang is breezy and fun as we see Travis's Dan Byrd new off-campus bachelor pad, Andy and Ellie Ian Gomez and Christa Miller enter a hilarious new stage of development with their young son and we learn how Laurie Busy Philipps wound up donning an ankle monitor. To balance out all that zany energy, there's romantic squabbling between Jules Courteney Cox and Grayson Josh Hopkins when he makes the mistake of calling her predictable.
Later in the season, fans of executive producer Bill Lawrence's previous show, Scrubs , will get a treat when Sarah Chalke guest stars and Sam Lloyd reprises his crossover role of Ted, bringing the rest of his barbershop quartet with him.
Much like last year's late arrival for Parks and Recreation , the third season of Cougar Town finds the show as fit and fun as ever. Here's hoping that despite the long recess, a bogus premiere date and some lackluster marketing that caused Lawrence to go out-of-pocket on his own word-of-mouth campaign, that the series is able to find some new friends, as well as all of its old ones. Ellie gets a visit from her mean-spirited mother, Grayson tries to help Laurie with her cake business, and Bobby tries to help Travis with a college prank. S3, Ep9. Jules needs to find a way to cut expenses at her business, Laurie gets volunteers to help her cake business, and Ellie convinces Andy to play a trick on Bobby. S3, Ep Jules freaks out when Travis starts dating Holly, Ellie tries to keep Andy from running for mayor, and Laurie tries to help Bobby overcome his prejudices.
As Jules prepares for her hurricane party, she and Bobby fight over whether Travis should pursue Laurie, who is having long-distance relationship troubles of her own. Jules and Grayson run into trouble when they are forced prematurely to move in together, Jules and Bobby have a "white shirt challenge," and Ellie tries to prove that she's sexier than Laurie.
As the crew prepares to celebrate "Fake Thanksgiving," Ellie tries to butter up Jules so that Stan can be in the wedding, Jules tries to come up with her wedding vows, and Andy has to learn how to toss pizza dough. Grayson convinces Jules to elope by themselves to Napa, but the crew still manages to find a way to tag along. Meanwhile, Travis is heartbroken when Laurie's boyfriend surprises her.

Sam Lloyd and Ken Jenkins will be reprising their roles from the previous season. On December 19, it was reported that Edwin Hodge was casted as a love interest for Laurie, a military man whom Laurie dates through Skype.
Summary: Jules gets mad when Grayson says she is predictable, and when her car is covered with toilet paper and made to look like a shark by a group of teenagers, she decides to prove him wrong by Toilet papering their home. Grayson, however, anticipating her actions, uses the opportunity to play his own prank on her, with the intention of proposing to her.
Summary: To avoid hurting anyone's feelings, Jules asks Laurie and Ellie to be her co-maids of honor. Chick Ken Jenkins decides to have a little fun when Grayson asks him for Jules' hand in marriage.
