I guess better late than never right? I hope you enjoy it! Seungcheol is, in my opinion, one of the best leaders in all of kpop. Besides having to look after a whole 12 other people in one group, he is one of the most caring individuals I have ever seen!
This caring personality of his translates over into his role as a leader, further emphasizing his amazing leadership qualities. Seungcheol has cared for the whole group since well before debut and makes sure each and every member is happy and to help keep order in the group.
He will fight for his group - that is, Seungcheol has persuaded Pledis to let Seventeen members do certain activities, and he has even been present at every corporate meeting that has to do with Seventeen.
He definitely deserved his much needed time off and I am so glad he is back! Though he may not know it, Carats appreciate everything he has done for Seventeen. I hope he never gets any more negative feelings about performing or leading because he has done all of that perfectly.
Seungcheol, we all appreciate you so much. Jeonghan is a very mysterious individual. Many times, I am left clueless as to what he could possibly be thinking about certain situations.
He tends to keep his emotions to a minimum but will not hesitate to show them when he feels like he needs to. Another thing that shows his mysteriousness is his tendency to cheat during games but hide it very well and when he pranks the other members.
Whenever I think of Jeonghan being mysterious while cheating, I often think back to that one episode of One Fine Day in Japan where the hyung line were in the water and had to pour buckets behind one another to fill up one at the end of the line as fast as possible. Jeonghan secretly lowered the red line inside the bucket and filled his own with extra water before tossing it back.
This just screams sneaky and mysterious Jeonghan because hardly anyone realized what he had done! Also, many members have pointed out his prankster nature and how he loves pranking the members at the dorms! Anyways, Jeonghan can also be very mysterious onstage. For example, take his Ideal Cut solo, Purple Rose. The whole atmosphere of that song was mysterious and sexy, and Jeonghan was able to pull it off very well!
Him bathed in that purple light with that fake rose tattoo on his neck mixed with the magical instrumental and airy vocals just aaaaahhh, It screams mysterious and intriguing. Jeonghan, I am so glad you are feeling better after your bout of dizzy spells a few months ago. Keep being the beautiful mysterious angel we all love! Joshua is a very genuine person all around.
He is just the softest man ever and hardly gets mad at all but when he does you better run! He is just very sincere in everything he does, from his sweet vocals to his beautiful guitar playing to just Joshua being Joshua.
His voice radiates sincerity wherever he sings. You can tell how much he wants us to feel his emotions and just immerse ourselves into Falling For U to make our day extra sweet. His voice is really one of the most comforting things to listen to, especially with how sincere he is with the delivery of his emotions through his voice.
You can also see how much he cares for the other members. His sincere kindness and caring nature show when talking to the other members. He really is the most gentle person ever! I hope Joshua keeps being himself. I hope to see more beautiful guitar playing paired with his sweet vocals sometime in the future! We would all love to feel the sincere emotions he wants to share with all of us! Junhui is one of the most precious human beings to walk the earth. I mean really, how can you not have a soft spot for this precious boy!!
Like many of the most popular songs, Edge of Seventeen means different things to different people. For some, its slow-building drama makes it a karaoke staple; for others, its otherworldly quality provides an almost transcendent listening experience.
According to Howe, the song also encapsulates Nicks' place in the musical pantheon. Indeed, Nicks' ability to filter the traditionally male rock star myth through a female prism was a key tenet of her appeal back then, and continues to be so now. She succeeded in the male-dominated world of s and s rock not by sublimating her femininity, but by using it as both weapon and shield.
Recalling an early conversation with Christine McVie, her sole female bandmate in Fleetwood Mac, Nicks told NPR in "I said to Chris, you know, we can never be treated like second class citizens here. So when we walk into the room, we have to walk in with a big attitude.
Which does not mean a snotty conceited attitude. But it means like we have to float in like Goddesses, because that is how we want to be treated. And we will never not be invited to the party because we are women. At this point in Nicks' career, with eight solo albums under her belt plus seven with Fleetwood Mac, Goddess isn't too strong a word.
In , she became the first woman to be inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: first as a member of Fleetwood Mac, then as a solo artist. When Taylor Swift performed with Nicks at the Grammy Awards in , she told the audience it was "a fairy tale and an honour" to share the stage with her. For Leonie Cooper, Nicks remains pre-eminent because she demonstrates "a commitment to a visual as well as a sonic aesthetic".
Cooper says her signature scarves and floaty fabrics, unapologetically dramatic performing style, and "flirtation with the spookier side of things" helps to "build a vision that's truly hers". This in turn "lets the songs live in this world of her own making". Howe adds that Nicks "is and always has been a true and uncompromising artist" who invariably "puts creativity, music and writing first".
In a characteristically single-minded way, Nicks has underscored her commitment to long-lasting rock stardom by cancelling all of her tour dates due to ongoing fears over Covid Each member gets their very own episode, which is great. It really helps show off their personalities and helps fans, or even non-fans, connect to them even more.
That was something well worth the watch. This is their seventh mini-album, and they really brought us a good mix of feelings. It took Carats on a ride through youth with all six of its tracks. It charted No. They have to be played just right or we just end up disliking them. Steinfeld manages to make us exasperated with her even while we understand that her unlikability is her armor and the thing that stands between her deep insecurity and the fear that she is going to be rejected. Better to be the one who rejects and therefore the one in control of any given situation.
One thing I liked most about this film is the complexity it brings to every character. We see them first as one- note caricatures because that's how Steinfeld's character sees them, but over the course of the film she and we realize that they have much more complicated inner lives that she was missing because of her self absorption. The ending of this film is a bit too pat and neat, and once again suggests to unwary moviegoers that people with emotional challenges can just be better if they decide they want to be.
But overall I very much liked this study of what it's like to be a teenager these days, even if it doesn't remotely resemble my own teenage years.
Grade: A-. Uriah43 15 March Insanely jealous of her older brother, "Darian" Blake Jenner a young girl named "Nadine" Hailee Steinfeld has only one friend she can confide in and count on who goes by the name of "Krista" Hailey Lu Richardson.
And they remain best friends from the second grade to their junior year in high school. However, when Krista starts dating Darian, Nadine's world falls apart. So to combat her lonliness she attempts to socialize more with others which, due to her lack of social skills, leads to one bizarre scenario after the other.
Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was an uneven film which featured a stark contrast between the drama and the comedy. Although it was certainly watchable, I thought that the constant sarcasm on the part of Nadine was over-played to a certain degree which detracted from the film more than anything else.
In any case, while it wasn't a bad movie by any means, I honestly thought it could have been better and I have rated it accordingly. My wife saw The Edge Of Seventeen and told me it was a chick flick.
So I was warned but I still did watch it though. And I can only come to the conclusion that those ose kind of movies are just not for me. I can get that teenagers like those kind of movies, because maybe they can recognize some stuff from their own adolescent life. But for a grown childless man like myself the last thing I want to see is whining adolescents during ninety minutes. Because that's what you basically get with The Edge Of Seventeen.
Hailee Steinfeld plays Nadine, a teenager that complains about almost everything while in my humble opinion she has absolutely no reason to. The movie is shot nicely though, the acting is just okay, the script is boring.
Boring for almost everybody past twenty-five. Mr-Fusion 5 August From what I've seen, "Edge of Seventeen" is marketed as a teen movie, but there's irony to that. There are the usual genre tropes, but it's also laced with startling pain. The humorous highs are matched by one wince after another, personified by Hailee Steinfeld who makes bad temperament an art form. Her part is so well cast that the adolescent suffering of Nadine is palpable.
I can identify with some of her woes. Woody Harrelson is the other integral piece, the comic wit to balance her angst. His scenes are among the best and he's ideal as the weary history teacher saddled with high school drama. Even when the movie takes a midpoint swerve into abject bitterness, it's concern for Nadine's story that kept me glued.
There is a light at the end of this tunnel and it's really a catharsis. You want her to get through this. It's a tremendously affecting movie. What Ever Happened to Charm in the Movies? The first half is a sloppy teen comedy with very few laughs. The second half is a syrupy coming of age story that is not believable. Neither the comedy nor the serious drama succeed in their objectives. The only character whose scenes are engrossing is the lazy high school history teacher played by Woody Harrelson.
His banter with his student Nadine actually has a spark of life. Unfortunately, Nadine's character, who drives the film, is so unpleasant that it is impossible to empathize with her growing pains. Nearly every relationship in the film lacked an essential level of honesty. Nadine's beloved father seemed far too old. The relationship of Nadine with her older brother was never credible.
The treatment Nadine's mother by her daughter was deplorable. And it made no sense that Nadine would reject her best friend for dating her brother.
The main ingredient missing in this film was charm. The ungainly seventeen-year-old would have been much more likable and the film would have been much more watchable, if only she had an ounce of charm. Your imprint in Cinema remains alive even years after your passing.
And 'The Edge of Seventeen' is literally a John Hughes coming-of-age film, without his name on it, but of a fan, a very talented storyteller named Kelly Fremon Craig, who brings us a film for the ages. And how great is Hailee Steinfeld here? The film's protagonist, Nadine, is exactly how we've all been in our late teens. Kelly has written her protagonist with gusto. Right from giving her immense tragedy as an early teen, to her unknowing selfishness that almost leads her to lose her best friend only friend , is Written with genuineness.
Kelly's Writing is strong, keeping us engaged in her Portagonist's journey! Kelly's Direction is simplistic, but perfect. Kelly is a Storyteller to watch out for! And now coming to its Ace - Hailee Steinfeld. Steinfeld is mesmerizing as Nadine. The Oscar-Nominated performer blasts up the big-screen with a knockout performance.
Its impossible not to love Nadine, despite her flaws. This is career-high performance, that was overlooked, unfortunately! Steinfeld is perfection! Of the supporting cast, the always-reliable Woody Harrelson scores as Nadine's teacher, who in many ways turns out to be her only mentor. Haley Lu Richardson as Nadine's best friend, is first-rate.
Blake Jenner as Nadine's older brother, is natural to the core. Hayden Szeto as Nadine's secret admirer, is fantastic.
And Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine's mother, is just right. On the whole, 'The Edge of Seventeen' is an experience you simply can't afford to miss. One of the best ever of the teen-angst genre. Go talk to people. Nadine in The Edge of Seventeen summarizes her plight in that little exhortation: She is weird, a bit like Ellen Page's Juno but less witty and less dangerous.
In other words, Nadine is like many seventeen-year olds, on the edge of insanity and maturity, a nether region of insecurities and anxieties that are less debilitating than adults imagine and diffidence than anger. Nadine's one friend, Krista Hayley Lu Richardson , connects with Nadine's brother, Darian Blake Jenner , to create a stew of jealousies only teens could employ.
Losing Krista is doubly stressful because her true friend, her father, dies early and leaves her with a frazzled mom, Mona Kyra Sedgwick and no clear direction anywhere. Her aimless anomie is what I especially favor in this film: Like so many teens trying to find their way, she alternates between self-loathing and resolve to be a more likable person. Helping her self-actualize without speechifying is teacher Mr.
Bruner a terrifically underplaying Woody Harrelson , who remains with her despite her insults to him and threats of suicide. Indeed death is a part of a teen's life, here punctuated by her father's death, a caterpillar's demise, and the death of her friendship with Krista. Yet there is humor, albeit small, and adults who have trouble shepherding their children: "I want to make you feel better," Mona says helplessly at one point.
Hellmant 2 December The movie tells the story of an awkward year-old high school student; that breaks up with her best friend, when the friend starts dating her older brother.
Life then becomes even more unbearably frustrating for the teen. It's received almost entirely positive reviews from critics, but it's only performed moderately well at the Box Office thus far. I really enjoyed it. Nadine Steinfeld is an extremely depressed, and very unpopular, year-old high school junior; that's constantly whining about all of her problems, to her best friend, Krista Richardson , and her favorite teacher, Mr.
Bruner Harrelson.
