Skiller sometimes have limited combat skills or are 'half pure' and have a really high level in one combat skill. I will cover more on Prayer Pures and Dragon Pures later in the guide. Important skiller and general Runescape terms- to see more information on Runescape abbreviations look at the Sal's Runescape Abbreviation Guide. The best way to start a skiller is if you already have a Main Character, have been a member for a couple months, and have basic knowledge of the 'rules' of the game.
If you don't know the basic 'rules' than get used to being called noob and you'll just have to learn on your own. You should really know how to make money before starting a skiller. Note: Many people get money illegally for skillers. I do not suggest this as it risks both your skiller and other accounts and gives you an unfair advantage over other players.
Before making your first Runescape Character or if you haven't already done this than read the Runescape Rules and Beginners guide at Runescape. In any case it is literally impossible to get any useful amount of money illegally for your skiller. This is one of the most important parts of your whole 'look' in the beginning of the game.
You don't want to look normal so choose interesting looks and clothing colors; probably reflecting your preferred skiller outfit of the future, or the type of Character you would like to portray. Once you have made your own 'look', you will need to get through Tutorial Island having already done it with other accounts can be helpful in speeding up this process. This will stay off even after logging out.
Now go ahead and start on your first skill. You can also set your attack type to Defensive especially if you wield a bow and it will not change, but this makes little if any difference. Beginning skillers should equip a bow of some sort and no arrows, this way even if they do attack something they can do no damage and gain no experience. Basically you can start out with one of the root skills: Mining, Fishing, or Woodcutting. Most other skills are rooted in these skills some way.
You can start with any of these, Woodcutting and Fishing are the easiest but Mining is by far the most lucrative. The best thing you can do with Mining is mine Rune Ore at level 85 but probably the most profitable for your time and for experience is to mine Gold Ore at around level 70 you can mine it at 40 but at 70 it's much faster.
You should start with Rune Essence if you've done the Rune Mysteries quest. At level 15 you should start mining Iron Ore at the Varrock southeast mine. Until you're level 60 and can enter the Mining Guild. Once you are around 70 and if you have 40 Crafting than you can mine Gold and Silver Ore at the Crafting Guild pretty quickly.
You can make some good money in Mining once your level is high enough. There isn't really anything worth smithing in F2P until Rune armor and weaponry which is pretty pointless in F2P as you will lose a lot of money on each Runite Bar. Runecrafting will be slow in F2P and will not be profitable until around level 55 or 66 when you can make times air runes at the World 16 Air Company. This should probably be the last skill you train and you should use all the Genie Lamps and Experience Tombs that you get on it while in F2P, once you do start the best option is the World 16 Air Company.
Smithing and Runecrafting both directly root in Mining. Smithing is very slow so you will gain Mining experience faster than Smithing. Runecrafting is the same way but slower and much more profitable but requires the Rune Mysteries Quest to train. At level 20 you can start Trout fishing and Salmon at level 30 which are the fastest experience in F2P.
Fish and cook Trout and Salmon until 65 Cooking and about fishing. Once you are 65 Cooking you can cook Tuna without burning them I have a method for doing this at least fairly efficiently, see below ; at level 74 Cooking you can cook lobsters without burning them and at level 86 Cooking you can cook Swordfish without burning them the same method applies to both of these.
Cooking is the only skill that roots in Fishing in F2P or Members. If you cook all the fish that you bring in you will gain more Cooking experience than Fishing experience. See the Fishing and Cooking Help Guides for more details.
All you will need is your fishing equipment, a tinderbox, a lot of noted logs any kind are fine but normal or Oak Logs are best , and some money should be good, you'll be able to get more later on. Head to Musa Point with your stuff and start fishing. Once you have a full inventory go to the General Store and sell one of your logs to it and then buy it back drop one of your fish first so you have room and burn it. Pick your fish back up and cook them. Then sell the fish you got to the store this will more than pay for the money you loose on the log.
Woodcutting and Firemaking - You should already have level 3 Woodcutting from Tutorial Island when you start. At level 30 you can cut Willows. At level 41 you should buy a Rune axe if you can, and chop away from there. Firemaking doesn't really have any point in F2P other than raising your total level quickly. To raise it quickly just buy Willows or if you want faster levels buy Maples from Members. Also, for the cheapest, fastest experience around go to either the Varrock or Lumbridge General Store and buy an invent of Willows or Oaks and burn them.
It is very cheap, faster than banking for every load and the stores will literally never run out of logs. Willows are 12 gp each it may actually be cheaper to buy them from players soon and Oaks are 8 gp each. Firemaking is the only F2P skill that roots in Woodcutting. You can train this skill directly from cutting trees. If you burn all of the logs that you cut you will gain more Firemaking experience than Woodcutting experience. See the Woodcutting and Firemaking Help Guides for more details.
Crafting - The only skill F2P that is not connected directly to any other skill is Crafting, it has links to many skills and can even be trained without help from any skills.
For more information see the Crafting and Crafting Help Guides. There are several more skills available with Membership that can be very valuable to skillers. A few of these skills are rooted in F2P skills but some also stand alone. All minigames are Members and several of these are useful to skillers. Herblore - This is one of the 2 skills that require a Quest to begin training. The first thing you can do with this skill is identify Guam leaves at level 3, this of course means that you must get to level 3 Herblore without training it.
The Druidic Ritual quest gives you experience in Herblore, which gets you to level 3 so that you can start training. Herblore is very simple and quite profitable, in combination with Farming, if you're patient. At first you won't be able to make much money as the first few potions you can make aren't worth much to anyone but later on you you can make Antipoison Potions, Prayer Potions, Super Strength Potions, Super Defense Potions and more.
Your main goals for this skill will be level 38 at which point you can make Prayer Potions, level 55 when you can make Super Strength Potions, level 63 for Super Restore Potions, level 72 when you can make Range Potions, 76 which lets you make Magic Potions, level 81 for Saradomin Brews, and level 82 for Super-Strong Weapon Poison the best potion you can make as of yet. Herblore has no direct roots to any skill but Herbs are mainly gained by combat.
To train this skill you will probably have to buy all of your supplies or at least most of them. For more information please see the Herblore and Herblore Help Guides. Fletching - This is one of the faster skills to train and also one of the more profitable. You will really only have three main goals in this skill, level 70 when you can fletch Yew Longbows, level 80 when you can fletch Magic Shortbows, and level 85 when you can fletch Magic Longbows.
Fletching can be profitable, but because the market is rather unstable I can't give prices here. Be sure to check it out for yourself check the going prices in the Grand Exchange before you get into it to make money. Fletching is directly rooted in both Woodcutting and Crafting and a lot of logs and bowstrings will be needed to train efficiently.
For more information see the Fletching and Fletching help guides. Farming - This can be a very slow skill to train or fast and profitable but it is extremely time consuming. There are many profitable and useful things you can farm starting at level 1 with Potatoes. At 26 you can farm Limpwurt flowers. Watermelons, which are good for making Supercompost, can be farmed at level Snapdragon herbs at 62, Palm trees at 68, Calquat trees at 72, Magic trees at 75, Dwarf Weed herbs at 79, and finally Spirit trees at To you get your seeds you will have to buy them or you may be lucky enough to get some from the bird's nest random event.
Most seeds are found in drop from monsters which skillers can't kill, but many can be pickpocketed off the Master Farmers of Runescape. Some of the best ways to make money with Farming are growing herbs, especially Ranarr and Snapdragon, making Supercompost from Watermelons and Pineapple you've grown and growing Limpwurt flowers to get the roots. Another good and possibly more fun way to get Farming experience is to play the Vinesweeper Minigame, which can be started anywhere there is a tool Leprechaun.
Farming is rooted in Woodcutting because of the Bird's Nest random event, Thieving because of the seeds you can steal, and Combat because many monsters drop seeds. Thieving - This is quite a profitable skill once you have reached a good level and it is also quite fast but it's dangerous for skillers as damage is taken whenever you fail. The first useful thing you can steal is Cake from the Baker's stall at level 5.
The next profitable thing you can do with thieving is steal from Master Farmers at level At level 50 you can try your hand at cracking the safes in the Rogues Den not in the minigame , but this can be very food intensive as you can take damage from failing.
At level 55 you can steal from Knights. At level 59 you can try thieving the Blood rune chest but this is dangerous as there are several level 53 Ogres very near it and you can be seriously poisoned if you fail.
At level 72 you can steal from the chest in Ardougne Castle King Lathas Castle , and at level 80 you can thieve Heroes. You can also use Gloves of Silence to increase your chance of successful pickpocketing if you have 53 Hunter. There are specific areas where you can do each of these things, mostly in the city of Ardougne. Some the best money in this skill is pickpocketing Knights level 55, 50 gp , then Paladins level 70, 80gp, 2 Chaos Runes , and eventually Heroes level 80, gp and other semi-valuable items.
Another way to get better experience and make some money is to play Pyramid Plunder, for this you have to start the Enakhra's Lament quest and be prepared to eat a lot of cake. You will get hurt in this minigame, especially at low levels. I highly suggest Skillers do not open Chests, take at least a half invent of Cake depending on your Thieving level , and use Super Antipoisons, otherwise you may find yourself dead to poison in a few seconds.
Thieving is one of the Members skills that stands completely alone. To find out more see this Thieving and Thieving Help Guides. Agility - This skill offers very little profit but is a must for any skiller to train. There aren't many things you can do with Agility to make money, but it is a very useful skill nonetheless as it can save you a lot of run energy. The higher your Agility level the faster your run energy will restore so that you last longer running and your energy comes back faster when you aren't running.
There are a few things you can do to gain money with Agility though: At level 30 you can train at the Agility Pyramid in the desert. When you make it to the top you can gain an Artifact there that you can sell to Simon Templeton right outside the area for gold.
Check out the Agility Pyramid Guide for more information. At level 40 you will be able to complete all of the obstacles in the Brimhaven Agility Arena. Here you can gain massive amounts of Agility experience if you train for long enough, or you can buy several rare items with the tickets you gain. Check out the Brimhaven Agility Arena Guide for more information. There are several areas throughout Runescape that are designed specifically for Agility training.
There are also many shortcuts that will speed up your travel a little if you have a good enough Agility level. Hunter - This skill offers several very useful pieces of clothing for skillers to use but mostly it's just a lot of work for little profit. This particular skill seems to attract more random events than other skills so be ready and onslaught of randoms.
Hunter is a skill that can only be trained efficiently pretty far from a bank and yields little profit until the higher levels. It does offer several useful items though that can use at certain Hunter levels: Firstly the Rabbit-Foot Necklace canbe worn at level 23 Hunter and give you better odds of getting the Bird's Nest random event while Woodcutting, this can be profitable because of the seeds you may get; the Spotted Cape can be equipped at level 40 Hunter, it reduced your weight by 3kg and is invaluable for a skiller who needs to do some running around; the Gloves of Silence can be equipped at level 54 and help increase your chances of successful pickpocketing though they are damaged when you fail; one of the ways to make money with Hunter is catching Red Chinchompas at level 63; the Spottier Cape can be equipped at level 66 and is even better, reducing your weight by 5kg.
The most profitable part of Hunter and it can be very profitable if you're lucky is the Impetuous Impulses minigame which you can play if you have 17 or more Hunter. Construction - This skill offers no profit for skillers and is extremely expensive but is the perfect final touch for a rich skiller.
There are some useful things skillers can do with their houses, like moving them to harder to get to part of Runescape so that you can transport there with House Teleportation Tablets. At level 1 Construction your house will start at Rimmington for gold; at level 10 you can move it to Taverly for gold; at level 20 you can move it to Polnivneach for gold; at level 30 you can move it to Relleka for 10k; at level 40 you can move it to Brimhaven for 15k; and at level 50 you can move it to Yanille for 25k.
An interesting part of Construction that is quite useless is your Family Crest, which you can get at level 16 Construction, just to show your colors. There are also several types of Bear you can get an infinite supply of there that can boost some skills for a while. You can build a stairway in it. I suggest not building a ring toss, or any other of the Ranging games, it they DO give Range experience. But it can hold an amulet of Glory with infinite charges.
It can have a dungeon entrance, but all dungeon rooms are combat related. For more information about this skill see the Construction and Construction Help Guides. Slayer - This is the hardest Members skill for skillers to train as it is completely combat oriented and offers no profit or use for skillers but is the ultimate challenge and is the perfect finishing touch for a skiller.
There is some Slayer equipment which can only be used at certain levels, click here to see more on this, Slayer Equipment. The only ways to train this skill are with quest experience, which only the Pirate Pete part of Recipe for Disaster can supply to skillers, all other quest experience for slayer requires quests that skiller can't or wouldn't want to do. I do not suggest actually taking assignments beyond the first few levels as you will get harder assignments that would be dangerous for a skiller to try and complete.
If not, just pretend it doesn't exist. Honestly, the saner option is to ignore it. Feel free to reach out if you have specific questions on the subject. The client one time changed my combat preferences for no reason so I got unwanted combat xp.
A slayer cape with 3 combat is rare for a reason, it's a years-long endeavour with very little return. Though it has some vanity points to it, don't let it consume the account. Skilling is the point of a skiller after all. This variety of skill pure, also known as a 9 hp pure, trains all combat skills except Constitution. A Citadel pure is a type of skill pure, a player account created solely for the purpose of skilling in a Clan Citadel.
As such, the only skills trained on a Citadel pure account are the skills involved in Citadel resourcing: Woodcutting , Mining , Firemaking , Smithing , Cooking , Crafting and Summoning. These accounts are often created by higher-ranking members of clans to assist in the process of gaining needed resources each week.
Only a certain amount of resources may be collected by a single account per week, so the creator uses this account to collect more resources than would normally be allowed. This section lists methods for training skills that are not straightforward to train without combat. Slayer and Dungeoneering require special consideration since they cannot be trained solo by traditional means, while combat skills for skillers that train them are naturally impractical, but not impossible, to train without actually participating in combat.
In addition, completing the Combat Academy in Lumbridge offers one-time rewards that can be redeemed for any of these skills except Dungeoneering. The following quests are possible to complete while remaining level 3 combat. Additional quests may be possible for skillers that train one or more combat skills. For quests that involve defeating enemies in combat, food and rings of recoil are usually necessary.
A blood amulet of fury or deathtouch bracelet may also be used. Generally, as long as no direct damage is dealt by the skiller, they will receive no experience for recoiling the enemy to death. However, recoiling an enemy to death does not always correctly advance the quest.
In these cases, deathtouched darts are the only option for level 3s. Skillers that train Defence can also try using Reflect.
Maximum quest points: or 54 if free-to-play. Be warned, either of the resets Nastroths offers can only be used once, please read about them here before considering them. Skillers can complete a number of miniquests. Rather than provide an exhaustive list of all miniquests available to skillers, the following list contains only miniquests that require special consideration.
Skillers can complete all 10 Tales of the Arc miniquests. Those that involve combat are listed below. There are certain activities that skillers can do. The ones listed are those that are possible to do at combat level 3. Precautions may need to be taken in some activities to avoid gaining combat experience.
